Anointing of the Sick

“He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two… They anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.”

MARK 6:7, 13
If it is an emergency and someone desires anointing, please call the parish emergency number at 616-414-0982.

Otherwise, if you or someone you know is homebound or hospitalized and desires a pastoral visit, please call the Parish Office, (616) 842-1702. You may reach us by email at this address: parishoffice@slstm.org.

Please note: The Church dictates that anyone who “begins to be in danger of death or who suffers from the effects of old age” should celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick.  The requirement for beginning to be in danger of death is a rather low standard.   A person does not have to be on their deathbed to be anointed, and the danger of death could be extremely low or remote.  If you or a loved one fits this category, please contact the parish office and arrange to celebrate this sacrament sooner rather than later! Don’t wait until your loved one is unconscious or in danger of dying immediately. The sacrament can be repeated if the condition worsens or after a significant time has passed since the last anointing and person would benefit spiritually from being anointed again.
